University Center Board

University Center Board mission:

  1. Create entertaining, educational, and multi-faceted programs in and around the Dobbs University Center to enhance the Emory University out-of-classroom experience. Programs would focus on using DUC space, promoting services and offices within the DUC, and would work in close collaboration with other campus programming.
  2. Provide a volunteer, informed student group on the space, activities, and events in the DUC. The collective voice of the group would serve as a resource to the administration as Emory and the DUC evolve.

The UCB is comprised of three committees:

Late Night @ Emory: The committee is responsible for the programming, promoting and implementation of late night non-alcoholic activities. They include but are not limited to concerts, novelty acts, interactive games and comedy.  The co-chairs are responsible for distributing the Late Night @ Emory grants and arranging the co-programming of events with other groups within the UCB or on campus if needed.  The co-chairs also meet with individual committee heads, maintain the LN@E listserv, and represent the University Center Board in late night programming issues to the local media and other departments and student organizations with the advisor.

Signature Events: The division is responsible for programming, promoting, and implementing Signature Event activities, including Harland Cinema Series, DUCtoberfest, and DUC Day.  The co-chairs are responsible for arranging the co-programming of events within the UCB or with other groups on campus if needed.  The co-chairs also meet with individual committee heads, maintain the Signature Events listserv, and represents the University Center Board in Signature Event issues to the local media and other departments and student organizations with the advisor.

Promotions: The committee is responsible for managing and organizing all Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations and Web related activities within all UCB committees through separate chairpersons.  The co-chairs will run weekly meetings to ensure timeliness and accuracy of promotions activities. The co-chairs should advocate creativity in promotion.  The co-chairs are also responsible for coordinating open member recruitment events.  The Promotions co-chairs oversee all web content and social media, including Facebook, Twitter and additional platforms; are responsible for coordinating photographers for all UCB events and uploading these photos to the appropriate location.

Students, this is your opportunity to build some great leadership and programming skills while making an impact on your DUC and University!
